Chinese Herbal tea first appeared in China, Lingnan and formulated by a variety of herbs. It is usually used to relieve the heat and humidity in the body. Tan Ngan Lo Herbal Tea was founded by Dato’ Foong Chow Hwey in 1963. In the 1920s, Dato’ Foong Chow Hwey's father and his grandfather came to Malaya from China Guangdong Xinhui. They often served their neighbours with own making herbal tea, and be favoured by one and all.
Dato’ Foong drank his home recipe herbal tea since childhood and discovered the business opportunities of herbal tea. In the 1960s, Wen Jiang Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. was founded by Dato’ Foong in the name of his eldest son.
Dato’ Foong had a strong brand awareness. He registered the trademark in the early of his business and come up with the brand “Tan Ngan Lo”. He believes that a registered trademark is the best way to protect his brand and products.
